That's really hard actually, the Asiaworld Expo is actually at the airport -- which is a long way from anywhere. Only the Airport Hotels are close. That means the Regal and the Marriot Skycity.
Of course both are good hotels, well the Regal is a bit basic and checkout is too busy, but they are not very cheap. To go anywhere cheaper you will have to travel probably 20 minutes by express train which is not cheap.
There is also a ferry to Tuen Mun which is a cheaper area and has the Gold Coast Resort hotel which is the cheap (for a resort). The ferries are not very frequent, are small, and take 30 minutes though so that isn't a good option either.
If it were me I'd stay at the Marriot which is about a thousand HK$ a night vs almost two thousand for Regal.
