Hong Kong Dollars to Philippine Peso

I'll be visiting the Philippines for a few days right after our week in Hong Kong. Where can I get my dollars changed to Peso? Nobody here has access to Philippine Peso so I'll have to do it there. Or should I wait until I get to the Philippines? I don't want to be ripped off by airport money changers, but at the same time it feels a lot better to go into a country with some cash in hand for tips or taxis or whatever you might need in the first few hours after landing.

I got a bunch of Hong Kong dollar notes just fine from a bank in NYC but they didn't have Peso, not Philippines Peso anyway, they almost gave me Mexican which I'm sure wouldn't have gone very far!

You are quite right that the Mexican Peso would not do you much good in the Philippines! But as for getting Philippine Peso, that won't be hard at all. A lot of people travel frequently between HK and Ph and so there is a lot of cash around.

Any major bank in the city centre, in Central business district or in TST on Kowloon side, will have Peso in stock and sell them for a reasonable business rate.

I wouldn't worry about getting money to the Philippines from Hong Kong, that will be a small worry.
