HK and China are different but what kind of culture different you see between two places? Have same history for long time but then 150 years of difference. Now is it go back to be the same in a few years? Still Hong Kong people look at China people and find them different/strange. Is it going to be like this all time but chinese is chinese forever so must be one country. I think "two system" not really mean much like any country have city and countryside and these are different but still one country. What u think?

It still feels a lot like two systems to me.

And if you think about how much Hong kong people complain about Mainland visitors, and visa versa it is true, then I think this is a general feeling.

Each side tends to think they are superior, the Hong Kong'ers consider themselves more sophisticated, modern and educated, while those from China feel they are the "real Chinese".

So it leads to a lot of friction. Basically HK would be happy if China would just go away and leave them alone.

Sometimes I think HK should have gone independant. Why can Singapore become a city state but not Hong Kong?

Too true, should have gone independant if you ask me.

All the fault of that bloody Thatcher woman, giving the game away like that. Thought she was doing something clever but all she did was cock it up in the end.
