Where in central hong kong can we go for money changers? We will have dollar banknotes and some travellers checks from amex as well. want to get the best possible rate.

You will get good exchange rates from banks, particularly if you have an connection with the bank. Unfortunately Amex doesn't appear to have a banking office any more, they used to have one in Causeway Bay but it's closed now.

There are various CitiBank offices through Hong Kong that might be a better option.

You will find they have several offices, including at 131 Johnston Rd which is easy to get to, and another one upstairs in Exchange Square which is harder to find but ask the way and you'll get there!

Finally the various money changers in World Wide Plaza should give you good rates even though they are more used to dealing in Philippines Pesos they won't have a problem with US dollars either.
