So is the YMCA in Hong Kong called the salisbury, it is IN salisbury. Is salisbury something else? I don't get it. Sometimes if I google YMCA I get pictures of this big flashy hotel, but then it's called the salisbury.

Now if I search "salisbury" I find that's the name of the ROAD, so is it that the YMCA in Hong Kong is on Salisbury Road and that's it?

Please explain to a poor aging hippy who probably isn't that bright even before the 60s and now feel pretty fuzzy!

It is confusing isn't it? So don't worry, it isn't the 60's or your brain, it's the YMCA!

To simplify ...

The YMCA in Hong Kong runs a hotel, not a hostel, the hotel is located on Salisbury Road and the name of the hotel is "The Salisbury".

It isn't what you normally think of when you say "staying at the YMCA" - e.g. a hostel for young men, be they Christian or otherwise.

The Salisbury is a nice 4 star hotel right in the centre of the Hong Kong tourist area, just a few steps from Star Ferry and Nathan Road, lots of museums and shops.

If you want to stay cheap in Hong Kong then the YMCA is *not* the answer. Try instead the Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association. They have a website at

http://www.yha.org.hk/

But be prepared for limited choices, Hong Kong is not really a staying on the cheap type of town.
