South China Sea Pishkun is a single channel 3-0 animation video restaging the last historical moments of the 1975 attempts to flee Vietnam, as the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong marched south. With the current situation in Iraq, South China Sea Pishkun is a poignant reminder that war no longer can be won through technology, or military might. Dinh Q. Lé is one of Vietnam’s most celebrated contemporary artists. Known for his photo weavings dealing with his memories of the Vietnam war, his works have been collected by The Museum of Modern Art, The Israel Museum, the Hammer Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, to name a few.
Make a gallery-hop night of it and also visit Amelia Johnson Contemporary showing Konstantin Bessmertny and then move onto The Cat Street Gallery showing Guy Maestri.
