Weather and Temperature in Hong Kong: May

During May in Hong Kong the real summer weather normally starts.  Temperature averages 26-28C (78F - 82F) with over 80% humidity so many people may find it hot.  In a few years it can still be cool but generally it would be hot.

During the middle of the month we will have Buddha's birthday and the Cheung Chau Bun Festival.  Though I can remember a couple of years where then has been light rain during the Bun Festival on most occasions it has been really extremely hot.

The humidity goes up a lot at this time too so the heat seems even more.  The children who perform on the floats during the Bun Festival often have to be sheltered with umbrellas and fanned continuously during the parade.

No matter where you come from you won’t need more than shorts and t-shirt clothing to cope with the weather during May in Hong Kong.

Do you know: Next month we have Dragon Boat Festival. Lots of dragon boat races before and after the festival day.
