Hong Kong Island

The main island of Hong Kong -- confusingly the country (well, the SAR now) is called "Hong Kong" and the name of this particular island is also Hong Kong.  So people tend to just say "Island" or "The Island" sometimes when they mean this.

Hong Kong island has the main business and shopping districts as well as residential areas, only small industry is here, no big factories.

As a visitor you will probably only visit a few key districts on Hong Kong island, and most of these can be easily reached by public transport.
