The Birthday of Kwun Yum
Not a public holiday in Hong Kong but one of the local festivals to respect a popular Chinese (Taoist) God who is also called the Goddess of Mercy. There is a Buddhist version of her called by many names like Guan Yin, but the temples in Hong Kong to Kwun Yum are Taoist temples.
Her birthday is the 19th day of 2nd lunar month (15 Mar in 2009) in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
Although it is not a public holiday in Hong Kong it is in China so we can expect some extra visitors on that day!
There is a major temple to Kwun Yum in the Hong Hum district and a popular one also in Tai O on Lantau.
