Old Star Ferry Pier

I guess I'm being a bit down here but I'm already feeling sad about the fact that the old Star Ferry pier will soon be no more.

It used to be one of those places were you could hang out for 15 minutes and see the whole world walk by.  Lots of notable things in my life have happened near or around there so it will be a great shame to see it go.

Old Star Ferry Pier

The new Star Ferry pier will never have the same romance for me!

More pictures of the old Star Ferry Pier

How many times did you catch a cab at the old Star Ferry taxi rank?

How many people did you meet outside the Dymocks bookshop at the old Star Ferry Pier?  Or the SCMP Bookship as it used to be.

All these tall buildings behind the old Star Ferry Pier that didn't used to be there, IFC One and IFC Two as well as the unfinished Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong.

Here you see one of the Star Ferries about to dock at the old Star Ferry Pier while in the background you can see sand being unloaded onto the reclamation which will soon mean the ferries have to stop at the new Star Ferry Pier which can be seen behind shrouded in bamboo scaffolding.

What I don't have is any pictures of the rickshaws at the old Star Ferry pier, or their drivers, it seems they have not been around for some while.  Have they been moved on?  If you know what happened to them let me know please, perhaps post a message in the forum.
