A popular day trip from Hong Kong is the ex-Portuguese colony of Macau.  It really doesn't have a lot of Portuguese flavor any more except for a few key places, but it does feel a lot like Hong Kong was 50 years ago, except for the ever growing number of casinos.  Macau has certainly turned into an entertainment centre in Asia.
