I haven't been to Tatami Hampton Hotel but the area Mong Kok is a mixture of residential and commercial area.  Most things there are cheap. It's full of people going to work, full of people shopping at the nearby Lady's Lane for cheap garment, full of people that look for camera accessories, full of people look for computers and accessories from the computer arcade.  Flower market, tropical fish ormarket and bird market are one underground MTR station apart.  So, if you are looking for a budget hotel and enjoy blending in with the locals and see the real local daily life then hotels in Mongkok are suitable for you.
