What's it like in Hong Kong?

When I go on holidays, I often have questions like: what's the weather like there?  Is it rainy season?  What's available to see and do?  Is it the peak season?  Any local festivals?  What's the hotel like and the environment nearby the hotel?  Hope you can find the answer you need here.

What's the Weather Like in Hong Kong?

Hong Kong's monsoon climate makes it humid and hot in summer but cool and dry in winter.  Typhoons happens mostly in summer though we have typhoons in October sometimes.  Typhoons bring a lot of rain so it's not convenient but not very dangerous. You just have to look for falling plant pots or street signs!

Hotels in Hong Kong

It is easy to find out what it's like inside a hotel (eg. from pictures of the hotel's official web site) but it's difficult to tell if the hotel has run down, what's the outside environment like.  Is it safe around?  Is it a cheap package tour hotel often packs with noisy package tour group?  My 'hotels in Hong Kong' pages provide more in-depth review of the outside environment and restaurant review (if I've been there).

Festivals in Hong Kong / Public Holiday in HongKong

We almost have festivals every month in Hong Kong.  East meets west, we celebrate Easter and Christmas.  We also celebrate many Chinese festivals that follow the lunar calendar which fall on a different date on the western calendar each year, which may or may not be made public holiday so do watch out for this.  Check out my calendar for festivals in Hong Kong.
