Hong Kong 2015 Festival Calendar

The Year of the Goat in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2015 is sure to be a very good year!

This calendar includes both the official gazetted public holidays, the equivalent to UK Bank Holidays, but also those based on local traditions and the lunar calendar.  Those are not days off work, but people will be celebrating and some services may be interrupted particularly with more traditional businesses.

For example it is really hard to get a plumber, a builder or a handyman for first two weeks after the Chinese New Year celebration regardless of the fact that officially Hong Kong should be back to work!

Notes: Gazetted holidays, e.g. the official public holidays decided by the Government of Hong Kong, have not yet been published for 2015; but it is possible to calculate most of them following the rules laid out in the Ordinance.  For smaller and lunar festivals it is sometimes hard to calculate in advance, as there are some arbitrary decisions which will be made later by ecclesiastic officials. However where predictable the dates have been included in the table above.
